OBOR / Founding business pilot

An intelligence briefing that starts with your business.

If your business trades with China or depends on Chinese supply chains, economic developments can matter long before they appear in your daily conversations. We're inviting five Canadian businesses to help shape a personalized monitoring service—with a person who gets to know what matters to you.

The difference: We start with a conversation, then determine what to monitor.

How OBOR handles evidence

01 / The service

Useful intelligence, selected for your circumstances.

Rather than asking you to explore another dashboard, we learn what your business is watching. OBOR's existing research and official-source records become the evidence behind a personal briefing.

01 / PERSONAL PROFILE

Your priorities, defined together.

We map your products, China exposure, relevant policy questions, and the decisions you are preparing to make.

02 / BRIEFINGS

What matters, with the evidence.

Receive a concise, human-reviewed briefing that links relevant findings to original sources, with clear limits on what the data establishes.

03 / ONGOING MONITORING

A reason to reach out when something changes.

We revisit your watchlist as verified records are updated, identify relevant deadlines, and follow up when there is something worth discussing.

02 / The experience

Four weeks. One direct relationship.

This is a working research pilot. A human works directly with each participant. The monitoring and briefing process is being tested and refined, not offered as an unattended service.

STEP 01

Have a conversation.

We spend about 20–30 minutes understanding your business, questions, and economic exposures. No confidential documents are required.

STEP 02

Define your watchlist.

Together we choose product categories, developments, policy dates, and indicators that the available evidence can support.

STEP 03

Receive a first briefing.

We prepare and review an initial report, then revisit the monitored evidence during the pilot. You get relevant updates, not filler.

STEP 04

Tell us what helped.

We ask what was useful, what was missing, and whether the briefings improved a question, a decision, or your research process.

03 / Who it is for

Built around real economic exposure.

The pilot is aimed at Canadian business owners, executives, and operators who already have decisions connected to China's economy.

  • Importing from ChinaBusinesses concerned with supplier conditions, industrial inputs, trade measures, and upcoming purchasing decisions.
  • Exporting to ChinaBusinesses following Chinese economic conditions, relevant demand indicators, and access to the market.
  • Competing or operating within China-linked industriesBusinesses assessing changing Chinese production, policy, or competitive conditions using appropriately bounded evidence.
What this pilot can and cannot establish

OBOR monitors a limited set of official sources and verified datasets. We will identify coverage gaps, distinguish general economic context from company-specific effects, and verify material policy conditions before relying on them. This is independent research, not legal, customs, investment, or financial advice.

04 / Founding participants

Let's start with your questions.

We're inviting up to five Canadian businesses to help develop this service through direct conversations and a short monitoring pilot. Participation is free, and there is no commitment to become a customer.

How to express interest
Interested in participating?

Reply to the person who shared this invitation with you and ask to be introduced to the OBOR pilot operator. We'll arrange a short introductory conversation and decide together whether the current research coverage fits your needs.

There is no public registration form or client account at this stage. Please avoid sending confidential supplier, financial, or contractual information in your initial reply.

The research tools at OBOR remain publicly accessible. This invitation is for a separately operated, human-led pilot that is being developed and evaluated. A relevant alert is not a guarantee of comprehensive economic or regulatory monitoring. Review monitored sources and coverage .
