GENERAL UPDATE · 2026-08-31
China sets 2030 logistics network target of 13.1% of GDP
IN SHORT
China's NDRC and Ministry of Transport released a logistics-network development plan targeting total social logistics costs of 13.1% of GDP by 2030, 0.8 percentage points lower than the end-2025 comparison. The plan contains 17 tasks in seven areas. These are policy objectives, not achieved outcomes.
WHY IT MATTERS IN CANADA
Canadian logistics operators, equipment suppliers, importers and exporters exposed to Chinese transport networks can monitor changes in intermodal hubs, corridors, equipment modernization and logistics data-sharing rules. The plan does not demonstrate a reduction in shipping prices, Canada–China freight rates, bilateral shipment volumes or committed procurement contracts.
